The NTFS (New Technology File System) supports different file formats, and have a volume level that can cause hard drive space, is reported missing or incorrect. You may have encountered this behavior with NTFS file system, if the number suddenly becomes very crowded and you can not access files and folders from it. This problem makes all the partitions on your hard drive and you can not run into a critical section of the situations of injury. In such circumstances, you must select the partition recovery to get a Windows partition.
This behavior can occur when you access NTFS volume unauthorized or malicious in that it is secretly any large amount of small files or large file copy, and then removes or restricts the NTFS permissions on files. The problem can also occur after a power failure or malfunction, causing an alteration in volume.
The allocation of hard drive space on the partition of NTFS file system can be misleading if one of the following conditions:
- The cluster size of NTFS partition is so large for the average size of files that are saved.
- Attributes or NTFS permissions prevent the files to use or display while using the Windows command prompt or Windows Explorer
- Folder path is 255 characters.
- Files or folders that are reserved or invalid file names.
- NTFS meta files (for example, MFT or Master File Table) have grown and could not be unallocated.
Corruption in the hard drive structure of metadata or file system cause serious problems with loss of partition, because all these resources are used by the Windows operating system to access hard drive partition and data. In all these cases, the Windows Partition Recovery is required to recover lost partitions from the hard drive.
