Recover Corrupted Partition for Windows Vista

In Windows Vista and later versions, the BCD (Boot Configuration Data) store contains boot entries needed to start the operating system. When a system is booted, the bootmgr reads the boot entries in the BCD store and a boot menu is displayed to the user. It is much safer than the previous boot.ini file, you can boot Windows XP and earlier versions. However, both the BCD get corrupt that makes the system unbootable. This can happen for various reasons such as active partition corrupt, virus infections, power failures, etc. In this case, you should take appropriate measures to solve the problem. If the problem is not resolved, you must use third-party software Windows partition recovery to recover the partition.

Consider the scenario in which Windows Vista can not start. You receive an error message that is:
"File: \Boot\BCD
Status: 0xc0000034
Info: Windows Boot Configuration Data file is missing required information

Reason:
The causes of this situation are:
  • Windows Boot Manager (bootmgr) is not present in the Boot Configuration Data (BCD).
  • Bootfile \ BCD is damaged or missing from the active file system.

Solution:
You should do one of the following methods:
  • Fix the BCD: You should fix the BCD store by using the repair option to boot into Windows Recovery Environment.
  • Rebuild the BCD store by Bootrec.exe: You must rebuild the BCD store by Bootrec.exe recovery tool for Windows Environment.
  • Rebuild the BCD store manually: You should rebuild the BCD store by Bcdedit.exe tool in the Windows Recovery Environment.
After performing any of the above method, you must restart the computer to apply changes in compensation. But if you still face a similar situation means that the file system is inaccessible. In this case you must use a third party partition software recovery to recover the Windows partition.
